The City is exploring alternative sources for the small portion of the community’s water that the lease with Roseburg represents. WebRoseburg Forest Products Co. owned a right to appropriate water from Beaughan Spring and had a contract under which Roseburg allowed the city of Weed to draw water for $1 a year. When the contract was expiring, Roseburg offered Weed a 10-year lease on a portion of Beaughan Springs water for an initial payment of $97,500 a year.
